🚨THE OLD RACECOURSE  Anti-Social Behaviour 🛑

👮 We've seen a rise in reports of Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) across Oswestry Rural South. This time it vehicles, loud exhausts and off-roading! We're working with our community to promote respect, responsibility, and reassurance. We encourage everyone to get outside, meet up with friends, go out in your cars, explore new places and have a good time—you deserve it! But we kindly ask you to please think of our beautiful countryside and others while doing so.

🧠 What is ASB?
ASB is defined as “behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person” (Antisocial Behaviour Act 2003; Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011).

It’s not just about breaking the law, it’s about behaviour that impacts others'. ASB can erode communities, increase anxiety, and leave others feeling unsafe in shared spaces.

📚 ASB falls into three main categories:

·  Personal: targeting individuals or groups

·  Nuisance: affecting the wider community

·  Environmental: impacting public spaces, buildings, or the surrounding area

🚗 A note on anti-social driving:
Off-roading on public land in the UK is generally illegal under Section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988, which prohibits driving motor vehicles on common land, moorland, or footpaths. Legal riding is restricted to byways open to all traffic (BOATs), and vehicles must be taxed, insured, and MOT'd. Unauthorized access can lead to vehicle seizure and fines.
